Smoking allowed at every seat

Marley ROASTER is the newest of coffee&chocolate Marley’s shops, on the ground floor of the Court Minami-Maruyama building in Maruyama, the quiet district beside Maruyama Park in Sapporo. It opened on 7 July 2026. Its first month was a pre-opening until a coffee roaster was installed in August, and its October posts still mention roaster installation work, so Smok does not know whether coffee is roasted on site yet. The group’s website does not list it yet; what Smok knows comes from the shop’s Instagram and its Google Maps profile.

Smoking is allowed at every seat. The shop’s own post on its Google Maps profile of 3 November 2026 calls it a café where smoking is allowed in the Maruyama Park area and says every seat in the shop is a smoking seat (全席喫煙可能), and Marley’s reply to Smok the same day confirms that there is a place to smoke inside the shop. Smok has found no separate smoking room — the photos show one open room — so expect to smoke where you sit. Visitors’ reviews on Google Maps say the same. Smok does not know whether heated-tobacco devices are treated any differently from cigarettes.

The shop serves coffee from beans it describes as selected from around the world and roasted in-house, poured into wine glasses, and a house chocolate terrine that it recommends with it; a visitor’s review also praises its cold brew. The room is dark and calm: a counter with glass brewing towers, a long sofa seat along one wall, small tables and armchairs, and a high table with an olive tree by the window.

Opening Hours

Marley ROASTER changes its hours from month to month, and the shop’s own channels disagree at the moment, so Smok shows no weekly table. The shop’s post on its Google Maps profile of 3 November 2026 gives Tuesday to Saturday, 4:00 PM to midnight, closed on Sunday and Monday. The table still shown on the same profile is Wednesday to Saturday, 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM — the October schedule its Instagram announced on 30 September (closed Sunday to Tuesday during the roaster installation work). In July, its first month, it was open from 4:00 PM to midnight and closed on Sunday and Monday. All times are Japan Standard Time. Check Instagram, @marley.coffee.chocolate, or call 011-600-0595 before a visit.

Good to Know

Smoking

The shop’s own Google Maps post says every seat is a smoking seat, and the photos show one open room with no separate smoking room. Smok does not know whether heated-tobacco devices are treated any differently from cigarettes. Not every Marley shop allows smoking — see “Marley’s Other Shops” below.

Hours

They change from month to month and the shop’s own channels disagree today — see “Opening Hours” above. Check Instagram or call 011-600-0595 before a special trip.

Seats and Booking

Smok has found no seat count and nothing about reservations. Call 011-600-0595 or write to the shop on Instagram, @marley.coffee.chocolate.

Payment and Parking

The shop’s July 2026 announcements list parking (駐車場: 有り); Smok does not know where it is or how many cars it holds. Smok has found nothing on payment methods.

What’s on the Menu

The Main Store and the East Store serve the same menu, according to the shops’ own site, which also says that contents and prices can change. Smok does not list prices; ask at the shop for today’s menu.

Coffee, Roasted In-House — Beans from around the world roasted by Marley to suit each origin, brewed in different drip styles depending on the bean and the roast. The menu on the shop’s site lists medium roasts (Brazil Premium Chocolat, which it calls its most popular, and Ethiopia G1) and dark roasts (Guatemala Oriente Natural and Indonesia Mandheling Bintang Lima), the day’s Marley blend, a French blend, iced coffee, and milk coffees such as café au lait, café crème and Vienna coffee.

Cold Brew and Specials — Cold-brewed coffee in a limited number of cups a day, including an aromatic Ethiopian cold brew served in a wine glass, plus Irish coffee, cocoa, café mocha and royal milk tea.

Chocolate Made from Cacao Beans — Marley makes its chocolate itself, from the cacao bean to the finished bar — bean-to-bar — and sells it in the shop, including as bars to take away: bars at 68% cacao from Vietnam, Costa Rica and the Philippines, and truffles with a liqueur flavour that changes from batch to batch.

Terrine — A rich chocolate terrine made with its own chocolate and a smooth cheese terrine, each limited to a set number a day; the shop describes the cheese terrine as a very good match for coffee.

A Personal Note from Smok’s Owner

This is a more premium coffee shop, with slightly higher prices, but the products really are high quality. My favourite is their small chocolate dessert — incredibly rich, and every bite is worth it.

Getting There

From Maruyama-koen Station

About seven to eight minutes on foot from Maruyama-koen Station on the Tozai Line of the Sapporo Municipal Subway — seven according to the shop’s announcements, eight according to its Google Maps post. The address is 2-5 Minami 5-jo Nishi 25-chome, on the ground floor of Court Minami-Maruyama.

What to Look For

The shop’s name, Marley with a coffee bean above ROASTER, is painted in black letters on the white-brick wall facing the street, with a glass entrance beside it and a red doormat marked Marley coffee & chocolate sapporo inside the door; both are in the photo gallery above.

By Car

The shop’s announcements say it has parking. Smok does not know where or how many cars, so ask when you call.
